President of Fiocruz participates in the World Health Assembly

Snakebites, Chagas disease, Universal Health Coverage and the 2030 Agenda were among the main themes discussed by Nísia Trindade Lima, who also attended to several bilateral meetings. During the Assembly, the World Chagas Disease Day as established to be celebrated each year on 14 April.

Australian Ambassador visits Fiocruz

More than 120 complete arbovirus genomes are sequenced
In just 15 days, a project led by Fiocruz generated 126 complete virus genomes responsible for large outbreaks in the country, including 69 of dengue, 34 of chikungunya and 23 of zika.
Two new species of virus discovered in Brazil
Denoted as Xapuri and Aporé, in reference to the remote locations of Acre and Mato Grosso do Sul where they were located, the micro-organisms belong to the mammarenavirus genus of the arenavirus family.
