The Complex in Manguinhos, in Rio de Janeiro, is a candidate for World Heritage status by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The institution is now part of the tentative list of sites that can become Cultural, Natural and Mixed World Heritage Sites
