The ambassador met with the president of the Foundation, Nísia Trindade Lima, and other representatives of the institution to address topics such as cooperation for disaster prevention and preparedness, the Network of Human Milk Banks (rBLH), cooperation networks with Latin American and Portuguese-speaking countries and Fiocruz's recently announced research project in Antarctica. The agency is linked to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is the body responsible for coordinating international technical cooperation in Brazil.

For the director of Fiocruz Global Health Center, Paulo Buss, this partnership is important to articulate and strengthen Fiocruz's cooperation, with great gain for Brazilian society. "We usually say that viruses and diseases have no boundaries. If we do not work with our neighbors, we will have a lot of problems, with a high cost to public health and human lives", said Buss.
