Concern over the situation of some 900 million people living without clean water has led the United Nations to declare, in July 2010, that access to water and sanitary sewage is an essential human right. A new study confirms the World Mosquito Program’s (WMP) Wolbachia method limits transmission of the yellow fever virus in Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, reducing the threat of urban outbreaks of the disease.
