A Fiocruz coordenará, no Brasil, o ensaio clínico Solidariedade (Solidarity), da Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS). Em mais uma iniciativa para contribuir com o enfrentamento do avanço da Covid-19 no Brasil, a Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz), em parceria com o Ministério da Saúde (MS), vai construir uma unidade hospitalar de montagem rápida. O espaço contará com 200 leitos exclusivos de tratamento intensivo e semi-intensivo para pacientes graves infectados pelo novo coronavírus (Sars-CoV-2).

O eixo Cenários Epidemiológicos, tem como objetivos: 1) permitir o acompanhamento permanente da evolução da pandemia no Brasil; 2) estimar a velocidade de espalhamento da epidemia; 3)avaliar e propor medidas populacionais de contenção ou de diminuição da velocidade de propagação; 4) contribuir para a alocação de recursos dos serviços de saúde, baseada na estimativa do número de casos graves.
As diferentes metodologias e fontes de dados utilizadas podem apresentar diferentes resultados. A avaliação conjunta e a busca de consensos é, portanto, indispensável.

A research by Fiocruz Minas has shown that Lamp, the test used to detect a series of infectious diseases, can also be used to diagnose human visceral leishmaniasis. The study by the PCPP, the Group of Clinical Researches and Public Policies on Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, was recently published in the BioMed Research International magazine.

A group of researchers made a critical analysis of the current system of clinical classification of chikungunya cases. According to the scientists, with the emergency of the chikungunya virus transmission in the Americas beginning in 2013, it became clear that the classification of cases as acute, sub-acute and chronic has been insufficient, as it does not include the classification needs presented in some patients.
