Um estudo concluiu que a vacina viva atenuada contra a chikungunya, VLA1553, é segura e induziu títulos soroprotetores em adolescentes em áreas endêmicas. O ensaio clínico, realizado em dez centros do Brasil, foi conduzido pelo Instituto Butantan, que licenciou a vacina fabricada pelo laboratório europeu Valneva para produção e distribuição na América Latina.

O Brasil foi o 20° país certificado pela Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) pela eliminação da filariose linfática como um problema de saúde pública e o Instituto de Tecnologia em Fármacos (Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz) tem papel fundamental na conquista, como o único fornecedor do medicamento utilizado no tratamento registrado no Brasil. A dietilcarbamazina 50mg foi desenvolvida pelo Instituto e teve o primeiro registro em 1996, sendo distribuída para todo o país por mais de 20 anos, contribuindo com o plano nacional de combate à doença, criado em 1997.

A study by Fiocruz Bahia used text mining to extract unstructured data from a Long-COVID research conducted at a university hospital in São Paulo. The aim of the work is to contribute to a deeper understanding of this chronic condition and its implications for global health systems. O objetivo final da parceria internacional com a empresa fundada pelo especialista em terapia gênica, Jim Wilson, é obter a aprovação de programas de terapia genética que permitam ao país aumentar a distribuição de tratamentos para doenças raras a um custo mais acessível.

Uma pesquisa avaliou se o uso tópico do antígeno rSm29 em combinação com o antimoniato de meglumina intravenoso no tratamento da leishmaniose cutânea aumentaria as taxas de cura dos pacientes. Brazil was the 20th country certified by the World Health Organization (WHO) for the elimination of lymphatic filariasis as a public health problem and the Institute of Drug Technology (Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz) played a key role in this achievement, as the only supplier of the drug used in the treatment registered in Brazil. Diethylcarbamazine 50mg was developed by the Institute and first registered in 1996, and it has been distributed throughout the country for more than 20 years, contributing to the national plan to tackle the disease, created in 1997.
