A delegation from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) visited Fiocruz from April 7th to 9th to take part in a seminar on microbial resistance with researchers from the Foundation. In addition to the workshop, the group also visited Fiocruz's units. "A considerable part of neonatal deaths and negative outcomes among newborns could be avoided if there were no racial inequalities in Brazil". This is what the research team at the Center for Data and Knowledge Integration for Health (Cidacs/Fiocruz Bahia) says. In a study on heat-related deaths in urban areas in Brazil, researchers from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the Fiocruz Climate and Health Observatory and the University of Lisbon showed that the increase in mortality is greater among black and brown people than among white people.
