Two drugs used against hepatitis C have been proven effective in inhibiting Sars-CoV-2 replication in cells in laboratory studies. The trial is now entering its phase 2: tests in patients. The results of the first phase of the trial, led by researchers of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), were published on April 21 in a paper for the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, by Oxford Academic. A study by Fiocruz and WWF-Brasil shows that the wildfires in the Amazon were responsible for the increase in the percentages of hospitalizations due to respiratory problems in the last 10 years (2010-2020) in states with higher numbers of hot spots: Pará, Mato Grosso, Rondônia, Amazonas and Acre.
